Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Coarse sea salt (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir in the cheddar and cream cheese until melted and fully combined. Remove from heat.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and cut it into 2-inch squares.
- Place a tablespoon of the beef and cheese mixture in the center of each dough square.
- Fold the corners of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a ball.
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.
- Carefully place the pretzel bombs in the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove them with a slotted spoon and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add some diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
- These can be made ahead of time and frozen before boiling; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time when cooking from frozen.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup or mustard.
