Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces penne pasta
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Pour in the heavy cream and stir, bringing it to a gentle simmer. Allow it to cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet and mix until fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using.
- Combine the cooked penne pasta with the creamy garlic sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream.
- Add grilled chicken or sautéed shrimp for added protein.
- Make sure to use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
