Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups of peeled and chopped peaches
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the peaches by peeling and chopping them into small pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped peaches, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
- Transfer the mixture into the crockpot and cover it with the lid.
- Cook on low for 8 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Once the peaches have softened and the mixture has thickened, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
- Continue to cook on low for an additional 2 hours to further thicken the peach butter.
- After cooking, let it cool slightly before transferring to sterilized jars for storage.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or process in a water bath for longer shelf life.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of ground cloves.
- You can substitute honey for granulated sugar for a healthier option.
- This peach butter can also be used as a filling for cakes or pastries.
