- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon until crumbly.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
- In another bowl, combine the diced apples with the remaining sugar and cinnamon, then spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apple layer, ensuring even coverage.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top of the apples and caramel.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 15 minutes.
- Before serving, drizzle additional caramel sauce and sprinkle sea salt on top.
- Cut into bars and enjoy!
Notes
- For a nutty flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans to the crust mixture.
