- 3 cups peeled and diced apples (e.g., Granny Smith)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 teaspoon sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar.
- Add the softened butter and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, and mix until crumbly.
- Press 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
- In another bowl, combine the diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir to coat the apples evenly.
- Spread the apple mixture over the crust in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apples to create a topping.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with caramel sauce while still warm.
- Sprinkle sea salt on top before slicing into bars. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a more intense caramel flavor, use homemade caramel sauce.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
