Description

A delicious and comforting Mock Apple Crisp made with tender pears and a crunchy oat topping, perfect for fall gatherings or cozy evenings at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced pears
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the pear mixture evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the pears in the baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
  8. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a handful of chopped nuts to the topping.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
  • Substitute apples for pears if you prefer a traditional apple crisp.
