Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
- 1/4 cup sugar (or honey, to taste)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the cubed watermelon, sugar, and lime juice.
- Blend until smooth, then taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow dish (like a baking pan) and spread it out evenly.
- Place the dish in the freezer for about 1-2 hours until it starts to freeze around the edges.
- Using a fork, scrape the mixture to create fluffy ice crystals. Return to the freezer.
- Every 30 minutes, scrape the mixture with a fork until it is fully frozen and fluffy, about 3-4 hours total.
- Once ready, serve in bowls or cups, garnished with fresh mint leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a more intense flavor, you can add a splash of rum or vodka before freezing.
- This granita can be made a day in advance; just keep it covered in the freezer.
- Experiment with different fruits like cantaloupe or honeydew for a variation.
